PET double-sided tape is a functional tape featuring a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate coated on both sides with acrylic adhesive. It is available in thicknesses ranging from 0.03 to 0.25 mm and comes in common transparent and black varieties. Manufacturing processes include both transfer coating and direct coating, with oven temperature and winding tension controlled to ensure adhesive layer quality. The tape offers excellent dimensional, thermal, and chemical stability, along with good initial tack and holding power; it withstands long-term temperatures of 100–120°C and short-term temperatures of 140–200°C.
These tapes are widely used for securing industrial components, bonding decorative parts, and fixing internal structures of electronic components, making them particularly suitable for bonding materials such as plastics, rubber, and nameplates. In the new energy vehicle sector, flame-retardant PET double-sided tapes-certified to the UL94 V-0 standard-are used for sealing and bundling power battery packs to mitigate the risk of thermal runaway. Products from major brands can be custom-cut to meet specific application requirements.
