Classification of High-Temperature Tapes

High-temperature tape-also known as heat-resistant tape-refers to adhesive tape designed for use in high-temperature environments. Primarily used in the electronics industry, it typically withstands temperatures ranging from 120°C to 260°C. Common applications include masking during spray painting, baking finishes, leather processing, and coating operations; securing components during electronic part manufacturing; and masking for printed circuit boards (PCBs) and high-temperature processing.

Types of high-temperature tape include Kapton tape, Teflon tape, high-temperature masking tape (crepe paper), green PET high-temperature tape, and high-temperature double-sided tape.

 

(1) Teflon High-Temperature Tape

Teflon high-temperature tape is primarily used for: insulation wrapping in the wire and cable industry; insulation lining in the electrical industry; and surface coating for storage tanks and rollers, as well as lining for friction surfaces on guide rails. It can be applied directly to large flat surfaces and regular curved surfaces (such as rollers), simplifying operations by eliminating the need for specialized equipment, complex processes, or transport to professional facilities required for traditional PTFE spraying. It serves as a high-temperature insulating material in sectors such as textiles, food processing, pharmaceuticals, and wood processing. Applications also extend to color printing packaging machines, plastic weaving/drawing machines, microwave drying equipment, conveyor belts, and the heat-sealing surfaces of bag-making and sealing machines in the garment and packaging industries.

 

(2) Green PET High-Temperature Tape

Green PET high-temperature tape is available in thicknesses of 0.055mm, 0.060mm, 0.070mm, 0.080mm, 0.10mm, 0.12mm, and 0.13mm. Available colors include light green, grass green, dark green, forest green, yellow, blue, sky blue, black, and transparent (custom colors available).

Key applications include: masking during high-temperature spray painting or powder coating for items like equipment chassis and tempered glass cups; high-temperature masking for PCBs (including during tin baking and gold plating); and masking during high-temperature potting processes for components such as LED dot-matrix modules, digital tube displays, and LED appliance panels.

 

(3) Polyimide High-Temperature Tape

Polyimide high-temperature tape can be customized to meet specific customer requirements regarding voltage resistance. This product utilizes a specially treated, high-temperature-resistant polyimide film as its base material. It offers excellent insulation, puncture resistance, and resistance to acids and alkalis. It can withstand temperatures of 300°C for 10 minutes and is suitable for long-term use at 180°C. Available in a standard length of 33 meters, the tape can be slit to custom widths and comes in various shades of amber. It features superior electrical properties-including high insulation and low electrolysis-along with excellent mechanical strength, abrasion resistance, and tear resistance. Treated with a special adhesive, it offers strong bonding while ensuring no residue remains on the masked surface after removal.

Polyimide high-temperature tape is widely used for solder masking, high-temperature insulation binding for transformer coils, capacitor insulation, masking protection for PCB gold fingers during high-temperature spraying processes, and binding in the manufacture of mobile phone lithium batteries. Specifically designed for gold finger protection, this tape is manufactured by coating polyimide film with high-temperature-resistant silicone adhesive; it provides exceptional heat resistance and is ideal for protecting gold fingers during reflow soldering.
