High-temperature tapes typically utilize a polyimide (PI) substrate, capable of withstanding temperatures up to 290°C-a range that meets the requirements of most SMT processes on the market. For applications with lower temperature requirements, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates are often chosen; while PET has a lower heat resistance (typically around 200°C), its primary advantage is lower cost. PET tapes also offer a wider variety of colors-such as yellow, blue, red, and green-whereas PI tapes generally come in only amber or black, a distinction that can aid in identification and labeling during use.
PI tape, also known as polyimide tape, is an amber-colored tape that is currently a mainstream product with widespread applications. It is frequently used in mobile phone repairs-serving functions such as battery wrapping and electrical insulation-and is utilized in virtually all electronic and electrical products.
